CHANEL Cruise in Monaco

It comes as no surprise, that today, Chanel held its Cruise 2022/23 show at the Beach Hotel, Monte-Carlo. According to Virginie Viard, the creative director of Chanel, it is what Karl Lagerfeld envisioned and dreamed about a long time ago. The show guests could glimpse his villa, La Vigie, from the hotel beachfront, where they sat to watch this magnificent show.

Inspired by the happy moments that Karl spent together with a close friend of his, Princess Caroline of Hanover and her daughter Charlotte Casiraghi, this collection brings together all the best memories they shared together in Monaco. Inspired by Monte-Carlo ballet, the shoes remind of dancers pointe shoes, and the bags resemble tennis racquets. Swimsuits twist into asymmetrical black skirts or draped dresses, “Just like the one Caroline wore herself on the beach one day”, Virginie Viard recalls.

Let’s not forget the beautifully directed accompanying film by Sofia and Roman Coppola. Yet another reminder of Chanel’s ability to mix elegance and sports, and that Monaco is indeed inherent to the history of Chanel.
