There’s been an ongoing discussion on sustainability in the fashion industry over the last few years, especially the discourse with fast fashion. It becomes tricky to differentiate between environmental conscious designers who are pushing to lessen their carbon footprint and brands who are deceiving with greenwashing.
The annual CNMI Sustainable Fashion Awards shines the spotlight on individuals who have taken the initiative of producing eco-friendly options in the industry. This year, guests and honourees were gathered in the historical Teatro alla Scala opera house in Milan. The evening was hosted by the Municipality of Milan and co-hosted by the Ethical Fashion Initiative of the United Nations Agency ITC, the Ellen MacArthur Foundations and Sabrina Impacciatore from The White Lotus. Notable honoree’s of the night include Edward Enningful, Donatella Versace and Priya Ahluwalia. Guests cheered on the 10 recipients as they received their awards for inspiring and generating climate conscious efforts to create an eco-friendly future.
