Beyond the well-known world of Hollywood’s movie factories, there is a incredible rich and diverse scene of young artists and creatives in Los Angels. They are pursuing their careers in California’s entertainment industry across a number of professions – in music, fashion and dancing. Coming from all parts of the world, they have chosen LA as the place to build their life and careers. Each of them is blessed with exceptional talent and has a fascinating story to tell.

Tell us a bit about your profession. How did you come to dancing?
I am a professional dancer, choreographer & teacher. Dancing and performing naturally came to me since I was a little girl. I always wanted to show off my movements and something I created to my friends. On the other hand, I was extremely shy when it came to performing on stage.
What kind of dancing do you do?
I trained in many styles of dancing, but I teach Heels, Contemporary and HipHop.
If you weren’t dancing, what career would you pursue?
If I can choose regardless of talent, I would love to be a musician. A drummer or pianist.
Have you got any role models in the industry? Or role models in general?
Michael Jackson & my mom.
What would be your dream assignment? Who would you love to dance for or with?
Performing at the Super Bowl half time show! This is something I haven’t accomplished in my career and it’s been a dream ever since I became a professional dancer in the US.
Let’s talk about LA. Did you grow up here? If not, why did you move to LA?
I grew up in Tokyo, Japan. I moved to LA in 2013 to expand my dance career since LA is the biggest scene for commercial dance industry in the world.
Which is your favourite neighbourhood in LA?
I love Malibu.
What is it that you like most about the LA lifestyle and the people?
There are so many talented and extraordinary people in LA. Very inspiring. Also, I love LA because you have the city, the ocean, mountains, the desert and all are right next to each other.
Do you have any tips for those visiting LA?
Go to Malibu beach and see the beautiful sunset! Or hike Runyon Canyon Park and see the city from above.
Which other city or country would you love to visit and why?
I would love to go to Egypt and see the pyramids with my own eyes. It’s something so mysterious, that still to this day no-one can explain how they were built.
Let’s talk about favourites. What’s your favourite film?
My ultimate favourite film is “Titanic”. Also I love animation films from Disney, Pixar, Ghibli.
What’s your favourite music?
Since my job is working with different kinds of music, I love music. All kinds. But my favourite can be holiday music. I love Xmas songs. haha
Favourite Books?
I love a Japanese writer named Keigo Higashino.
Name your three essential items that you carry with you?
Menthol chapstick, NYX lipstick, Tiger balm.
What do you do in your free time?
Adventure!
What would you say has been the highlight of your career so far?
Probably the Oscar performance with Justin Timberlake in 2017. Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone were right in front of me when I was performing and I thought that was the coolest thing ever.
What goals have you got for 2019?
2019, same as each year, keep pushing, creating, training and expanding the boundaries of my dance!
