A new era of BLACK OPIUM begins with actress Alisha Boe as the latest face of YSL Beauty’s iconic fragrance. Effortlessly cool, daring and unapologetically herself, Boe captures the spirit of BLACK OPIUM. A fearless attitude, magnetic energy and the confidence to move through the world on your own terms. Beanie Stolper: Firstly, huge congratulations on becoming the Global Ambassador for YSL Beauty. What does joining the YSL Beauty universe mean to you, and what’s your three step mantra for effortless cool-girl confidence and energy?
Alisha Boe: Sleep, water and of course a spray of perfume. Sleep is so hard to master (for me at least). If I’m able to get 7 hours every night, that’s a dream! Also drinking enough water. I have a 2-litre water bottle I carry around set that I have nicknamed “my little child”. Basic needs like sleep and hydration can be overlooked when we’re oversaturated with information on wellness.

 

BS: As the face of this new BLACK OPIUM chapter, what does your ultimate London night out look like, the kind where you forget the rules and make your own? (BLACK OPIUM in your handbag, obviously.)
AB: I love a loooong dinner! It usually involves seafood, oysters, gildas and little small plates. Definitely a cozy bar, maybe a dance somewhere and of course ending the night with a karaoke room!


BS: BLACK OPIUM is built on contrasts and oxymorons; sweet but rebellious, glamorous but effortless. What do you think makes someone truly unforgettable?
AB: I’m not willing to abandon myself to make others comfortable. The Black Opium girl to me is fun, unapologetically herself, and daring!


BS: BLACK OPIUM has been a YSL Beauty icon since 2014. How did you bring a fresh attitude to this new era and add your own Alisha Boe stamp to the legacy? 
AB: There is no end and beginning. Me and the vibe of Black Opium are one! She’s the one who doesn’t wait for the party to start, she is the party. She’s magnetic and smells damn good walking into any room.

 

BS: Everyone has their own fragrance ritual. Are you a quick spritz or a full scent, everywhere moment?
AB: Wrists, back of neck, sides of neck, and a little on my clothing. Just enough to leave a trail behind me.

 

BS: Lastly, BLACK OPIUM is all about confidence and owning your story. After everything you’ve achieved, what’s something that still makes you completely yourself? What feeling do you want BLACK OPIUM to give you every time you wear it?
AB: I’m so grateful for my female friendships. They are my chosen family, and we’ve learned so much from each other. I am so lucky to have them! Black opium to me is pure freedom.
