From the dark and wintery streets of Covent Garden to Italy in just one step – welcome to Ritorno! Following the success of Ritorno Chelsea, Ritorno partners have recently opened a second location brining authentic Milanese baretto tradition to London. Ritorno Covent Garden is an Italian-style brasserie offering all day dining with an Italian-inspired menu incorporating modern European cuisine.
Open for lunch and dinner, this is also a perfect spot for pre and post-theatre cocktails at the chic gilded bar among flamingo themed lush interiors.
From homemade pastas, thin crust pizzas to the fresh seafood dishes, everything is sourced from the finest Italian produce with organic breads and pastas made daily in-house.
Envisioning the menu for both Ritorno locations is Sicilian head chef, Stefano Cilia. Cilia began his career apprenticing under a Michelin star chef in Milan, before moving to London and working at some of the city’s top restaurants. Cilia has expertly executed a menu of traditional regional Italian dishes for both restaurants incorporating international flavours and techniques by using only the best of British and Italian produce.
The PUSS PUSS team enjoyed the Tuna tartare with smoked aubergine cream, lime, coriander and raspberry dust which was deliciously refreshing. The fried squid with julienned zucchini and chilly spicy mayonnaise was crispy and light while the main – the Angus Ribeye steak with wild mushroom and truffle beef jus was perfectly cooked and not too heavy. The classic Tiramisu from the desert menu was just the thing to round off this perfect meal.
Another highlight at Ritorno are the cocktails – we were recommended and tried ‘Beehive Worker’ – a beautiful combination of honey, Botran 18, Tio Pepe, lime & propoli drops finished off with a spray of smoked powder.
Ritorno celebrates the elegant lifestyle of Italy, where gathering to enjoy great food, complemented by fine wines and cocktails in a chic yet informal surroundings is central to the Italian way of life. Ritorno means ‘return’ in Italian and we will definitely be back for more!
