Just as we’d become convinced that all fun has become performative – that every experience now exists to be photographed, filmed and viewed through the prism of social media – Solomun +1 at Pacha Ibiza proved us wrong.

On September 13, with DESIREE joining Solomun as that week’s +1, there was something genuinely refreshing about being in a room where almost nobody seemed interested in documenting what was happening. Barely a mobile screen in sight. Instead, people were dancing, talking, connecting and getting lost in the music. It sounds simple, but it felt unusual. People were actually there.
That has been part of the appeal of Solomun +1 since it began in 2013. Now in its 12th consecutive season at Pacha – and its 14th year as a residency – the idea remains simple: Solomun, one guest and a whole night to see where the music goes. He moved the DJ booth into the middle of the club early on, bringing the DJ into the room rather than keeping them elevated above it. It’s a small change that makes a noticeable difference.
The 2026 lineup covers a lot of ground. Skrillex, Anyma, Jamie xx and Peggy Gou return, alongside Âme, Dixon, Denis Sulta and Chloé Caillet. Idris Elba is another addition to the season, while KETTAMA, DESIREE and Max Styler are making their +1 debuts. Solomun also has five all-night-long dates, as well as opening and closing the season.
What was particularly striking on September 13 was the mix of generations. Twenty-somethings shared the dance floor with people who have been part of club culture since long before Ibiza became what it is today.
There was no sense of one generation belonging more than another; everyone seemed equally at home. It’s a quality that can be surprisingly hard to find in nightlife, and one that says a lot about the kind of space Solomun +1 has become.
Dinner at Pacha is a good way to start the evening. The food is genuinely good, and there’s enough atmosphere to feel that the night has started without any pressure to rush through dinner and get to the club. Once inside, the staff are friendly and switched on, and even when the club is busy, everything seems to run smoothly without making a big thing of it.
And there are still two Sundays left in this year’s residency: September 27th brings Âme for the next +1 followed by Solomun’s solo closing set on the 4th of October.
Thank you, Solomun, for reminding us that there are still places where people go for the experience rather than the ‘gram – and where, for a few hours, nobody seems particularly interested in proving they were there. They’re just having a good time.
