For Love & Lemons x Lynnee by Sydney Lynn

Beanie Stolper: How did the idea come together? Who said: “You know what this lingerie brand needs? Pans.” Were they immediately into it or did you have to pitch hard?

Sydney Lynn Carlson: Haha great question!! I have always loved For Love & Lemons and they pitched the idea to us and there was no doubt in my mind – I was all in!

BS: ‘For Love & Lemons’ is all about celebrating femininity and enchantment. Lynnee is playful, flirty, and also practical. How did you go about designing pieces that could move from kitchen to dining room to dancing barefoot in the garden?

SLC: The kitchen is a romantic place for me, so the idea of a collection that’s flirty, feminine, but also useful was such a fun idea. A beautiful apron that looks like a dress from the front, yet is keeping you from spaghetti splatter stains was everything we could’ve dreamed of.

BS: This collab makes the kitchen feel way less intimidating. Do you think making cookware beautiful can actually empower people to start cooking?

SLC: I’m not a foodie at all and cooking, I will definitely admit, totally terrifies me – however I will say, your pans have made me want to cook.

BS: Was that the plan? To make the kitchen feel less scary and more like getting dressed – are people craving that softness and silliness again in cooking and also in life?

SLC: Completely!! I always imagined Lynnee being a brand that’s for everyone. Professional chefs and dino nugget connoisseurs. But in between both of those everyone loves to feel good in the kitchen. As long as you have your cute pan, polka dot oven mitts, no matter what you’re making, you’ll feel good doing it. And that’s always been my goal!

BS: There’s also something super powerful about reclaiming the kitchen as a space that can be sexy and stylish and yours. Do you ever think about that balance between domesticity and independence?

SLC:Definitely. Cooking feels empowering to me. I believe everyone deserves to make themselves a good meal that love was put into. Just for yourself! Cooking is calming for me, I turn on music, take my time, wear something cute paired with slippers and just get in my own zone. It’s important to take time to do little things for yourself just for yourself.

BS: Ok but real question: how did you land on that pink in your first pan? It’s perfect. Not too bubblegum, not too dusty. Was it a long process or did you just know and what is that specific pink called?

SLC: The pink pan came to mind when I was moving out for the first time and realised I had no cookware to my name. All I wanted was a pink pan! I couldn’t find the exact color I was imagining and being a young girl in her 20’s who loves cooking, fashion, hosting, I wanted just the perfect pink pan. So….. I created it!

BS: You’ve built such a specific aesthetic, vintage dinner hostess, LA it-girl, Pinterest-core. What were the references on your moodboard for this? And be honest: was your algorithm confused for a bit? I imagine your Pinterest board was in chaos, one minute it’s scalloped ceramics, the next it’s sheer lace dresses.

SLC: Lol my pinterest board is all over the place but I’m obsessed with it. Because so am I!! I get into deep dives of vintage linen wonderlands one day, 90s runways the next and then end up on recipes for steaks and baked potatoes… It’s a beautiful mess and I love it.
