UK brand Whistles has partnered with rising label Hai to create a perfect summer capsule – founded in 2018 by Tessa Vermeulen and born out of love for silk, the name Hai (海) means ‘sea’ in Mandarin. The brand takes inspiration from the movement and strength of the ocean, nostalgia and aims to create pieces that resonate with the founder’s childhood memories. The limited edition collection will feature iconic mini tote bags, bias cut skirts, ruffled blouses and classic slip dresses. All pieces are made from 100% silk and to compliment each other. After all, Hai’s ethos is to create ethereal pieces you will keep returning to. “It’s been such an organic and wonderful process to work together with Whistles. We really wanted to create a capsule of silk staples in opulent, bold and bright tones. These are clothes for day and night, but there’s a celebratory, party feeling to them too,” says Tessa Vermeulen, Founder and Creative Director of Hai. This mood is also reflected in the campaign featuring model and artist Kesewa Aboah wearing the pieces from the collection on the beach on a hot summer night as if returning from a party we all would like to join.
The collection will launch on 19th May 2022 and will be exclusively available at Whistles.com.
